Outdoor Megastore Launches

Fronted by Stan the Outdoor Man, outdoormegastore.co.uk re-launched this week with a brand new look and feel just in time for the busy Spring Summer Camping season.

Stan was given a makeover, some say we sobered him up a little but a new rigout and haircut sorted him right out. As for Stannetta (Stan’s significant other), well she still seems to be lost in the wilderness and is officially classed as AWOL.

The site, built on the Magento eCommerce framework was designed and developed by igoo over a two month period bringing together the latest technology and the best Magento design practices. The customer buying process was simplified with focus given to a new category hierachy and the way customers navigate the huge range of products and departments available. The main aim of the website was to retain the personality of Stan whilst making it easy for customers to find bargains and checkout as easily as possible.

The website links to a back office courier system which enables customers to purchase products that are picked, processed and despatched within a 30 minute window.

The worldwide customer based has taken to the new website and sales so far have been extremely positive. Look out for further developments and improvements in the near future… Stannetta may also make a come back!

Accessories Online Win a 404 Page Award!

Last year Igoo worked with Accessories Online to create a magical 404 page for their website, to make getting lost a little bit more interesting. Since then the page has been spotted by ecommerce consultants Open Plus who have awarded it “The best 404 page in the world ever” and written a nice little article about it… read me.

Congratulations to Simon Roberts, co-owner of Roberts Recycling who was named ‘young entrepreneur of the year 2011’ at the Morgan Foundation awards last month. As well as gaining great recognistion Simon also netted ten thousand pound, which he has vowed to re-invest straight back into the business. It’s been great working with Roberts Recycling over this year, well done Simon.

IE automatically replaces phone number with Skype button

That annoying situation when you design your header, include your font-face styles and test in IE to notice that Microsoft has replaced your phone number with an ugly ‘lozenge’ of a button linking to their recently purchased Skype service.

I’ve seen a few javascript hacks to stop it happening but the quickest and easiest way is to trick IE into thinking the phone number is not a phone number.

Add . into the phone number preferably after the area code so in our case the 0151 . 291 7799
