That annoying situation when you design your header, include your font-face styles and test in IE to notice that Microsoft has replaced your phone number with an ugly ‘lozenge’ of a button linking to their recently purchased Skype service.
I’ve seen a few javascript hacks to stop it happening but the quickest and easiest way is to trick IE into thinking the phone number is not a phone number.
Add <span style="display: none;">.</span> into the phone number preferably after the area code so in our case the 0151 <span style="display: none;">.</span> 291 7799
